Fresh electric spark stops Obafunwa’s testimony at Dana Coroner’s inquest

The Northern Nigeria Governors Forum has said that the challenges facing the country were as a result of the failure to stick to the values of honesty, fairness and justice.

The Niger State Governor and Chairman of the NNGF, Dr. Babangida Aliyu, who spoke on behalf of the governors, said "We have realised that most of the challenges we are facing - poverty, unemployment, youth restiveness and violence - are manifestation of rejection of core values of honesty, fairness and justice in our communities, societies and indeed the nation.
"We have allowed greed, corruption and incompetence to overwhelm us overtime.’’
Aliyu said these on Wednesday in Abuja while inaugurating the Northern States Governors` Committee on Reconciliation, Healing and Security.
He therefore challenged the country's leaders to restore its lost values and virtue.
He said these were what distinguished Nigerians from others, resulting in stability and orderliness in communities.

The committee is headed by Ambassador Zakari Ibrahim. It also has as members a retired Commissioner of Police, Abubakar Tsav; and Father Matthew Kukah. It has 37 other members.
